Your documents stay on your Mac.
The short version
- Vertenda has no network access. It does not request the network entitlement macOS would require, so it cannot send or receive anything — not your documents, not analytics, not crash reports.
- There is no account. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to.
- We collect nothing, because there is no mechanism by which we could.
- Text recognition for scanned PDFs runs on your Mac, from a language pack bundled inside the app. It works with the machine offline.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Vertenda is published by Martin Hills, trading as Reevance, in New South Wales, Australia. For any privacy question, email privacy@reevance.com.
2. What Vertenda does
Vertenda converts documents from one format to another — Word, PDF, Excel, email, Markdown, HTML, OpenDocument, Rich Text, EPUB and plain text. You choose the files and the destination folder; the app writes the converted files there.
3. Information the app handles — and where it stays
Vertenda reads the documents you give it and writes the converted results to the folder you nominate. Both stay on your Mac. The app does not copy, index, catalogue or retain your documents anywhere else.
The only thing Vertenda stores about you is a small settings file recording which output folder you chose, so it does not have to ask on every launch. That file lives inside the app's own container on your Mac.
4. Why we cannot collect your data
This is a technical statement, not only a promise. Vertenda runs under the macOS App Sandbox and declares four capabilities:
- read and write files you explicitly choose or drag in;
- remember the output folder you chose, across launches;
- read and write your Downloads folder, which is the default destination;
- run in the sandbox itself.
It does not declare the network client entitlement. Without it, macOS blocks outbound connections at the operating-system level. An app cannot quietly grant itself that permission after installation.
5. Scanned documents and text recognition
When a PDF has no text layer, Vertenda recognises the words from the page images. That recognition happens entirely on your Mac using a language pack shipped inside the app. Nothing is uploaded to a recognition service, and the feature works with no internet connection.
6. What we do not do
- No analytics, telemetry or usage tracking.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No crash or diagnostic reporting to us.
- No accounts, profiles or user identifiers.
- No selling or sharing of personal information, because none is collected.
If you choose to send Apple crash and usage data in macOS settings, that is between you and Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive it in a form that identifies you.
7. Children
Vertenda is a general-purpose document utility and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
8. Data retention and deletion
We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Removing the app removes its settings file and bundled language pack. Your original and converted documents are yours and are left where you put them.
9. Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK (GDPR)
We are not a controller or processor of personal data through this app, as it transmits no personal data to us. If you believe otherwise, contact privacy@reevance.com and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA)
We collect no categories of personal information through the app, and we do not sell or share personal information.
If you are in Australia (Privacy Act / APPs)
We do not collect personal information through the app. Complaints may be sent to privacy@reevance.com, and if unresolved, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
10. Changes to this policy
If Vertenda ever gains a feature that changes any of the above — it has none planned — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change.
